VOLUNTEER EVENT STAFF NEEDED
“Birth of an American Tradition”
The 150 Anniversary Commemoration of Taps June 22-24, 2012
Please note-This is a call for staff, not 83rd PA re-enactors.
The Taps 150 event at Berkeley Plantation will need volunteers to help staff the event June 22-24, 2012 at Berkeley Plantation on the James River. These volunteers will assist the Berkeley Plantation staff members and TAPS 150 to insure smooth operation of the 150th Commemoration of Taps over the three day event.
FOR CIVIL WAR RE-ENACTORS
Volunteers needed for re-enactor/ Bugler/ Bugles Across America/ check-in desk on Friday. Volunteers are needed to act as liaisons between the re-enactors and the event staff to insure the needs of the soldiers are met. Firewood and ice will be important items as well as being able to answer questions. Volunteers for this should wear period dress.
STAGE VOLUNTEERS FOR CONCERTS
Volunteers will be needed for the set-up/tear-down of stage and seating for concerts at the Rose Garden on Friday, Saturday evenings and Sunday and to set-up/tear-down the stage and seating for the ceremony on Saturday morning. Plus volunteers will be needed to help with the musical groups scheduled to perform over the weekend.
THE TAPS 150/ BAA EXHIBIT AT THE TAVERN
A bugle exhibit will be set up in the Tavern. This will include the TAPS 150 display and a display of Bugles Across America. Volunteers will be needed to man the display and watch the exhibit which will include many artifacts and original period instruments. Background and knowledge of civil war music will be very helpful.
SALES TABLE IN THE TAVERN AREA
Volunteers will be needed to man a sales desk to sell CDs, Books, Patches, Pins, medals etc. Background in sales is requested.
PARKING ASSISTANCE
Volunteers will be needed to help with parking at the event and helping visitors to the parking areas as needed.
All Volunteers will receive free admission to the event and have breakfast and lunch provided as well as an air-conditioned area to relax when not staffing the event.
